As, the National Unity Platform (NUP) legal team and leadership prepares to file an election petition to challenge the presidential election results in which incumbent President Museveni was declared winner, the NRM are confident they will retain their victory.
NRM’s lawyer Hussein Rugaba Kashillingi has revealed that the NRM legal team is ready to take on any case filed against the party and is positive the party will retain it’s victory.
While speaking to NBS Television, Kashillingi said that the election was as fair as it could get and did not see any sort of irregularities that could influence the court to overturn the election.

Kashillingi added that the NRM legal team has been doing this kind of work since 2001 and has always come out on top. He added that, the team knows what they are likely to face and is adamant that the NUP legal team will bring anything new.
“We have been doing this since 2001 (election petition against President Museveni). We know what they are likely to bring. We don’t expect Hon. Kyagulanyi to bring anything new.”

Kashillingi also revealed that all evidence in the presidential elections is by way of affidavit and thus not all the probable evidence will be produced and used in court unless it is stated in the affidavit.
“All evidence in presidential elections petition is by way of affidavit. They may apply to the court to produce video evidence, but you present a video to what you have stated in the affidavit”

The National Unity Platform (NUP) takes to court today, to file an election petition in which they challenge NRM’s Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa’s presidential victory in the just concluded presidential elections.
