Nubian Li, Eddie Mutwe and 34 others denied court bail

The General Court Martial in Makindye has denied Nubian Li, Eddie Mutwe and 34 other members of the National Unity Platform have been taken back to jail after their bail application was denied again.

Thirteen (13) of the suspects who have been behind bars since last year including Kyuma Kya Yesu have been granted bail today by the court in Makindye.

The 49 are among the over 100 suspects who were arrested in Kalangala on December 30, last year after Police restrained Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine from campaigning in the area due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Prosecution alleges that 49 suspects and others still at large on January 3, at Makerere Kavule Kigundu zone, in Kampala district, were found in possession of four rounds of ammunition, which is a monopoly of the defence forces.

Earlier, family members to the accused were denied access to the court. They decided to camp outside it as they waited for the outcomes.

The court has set 15th February,2021 as the date of the 34 people to be brought back to court.
