Tanzania’s ruling party, Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) have trashed and dismissed growing calls from the party’s Members of Parliament to extend the president’s stay in office.
Despite calls from the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) party members to have the presidential term limits lifted to extend Magufuli’s stay in power, the party leadership says the president has no such intentions.
There have been growing calls from the members of the ruling CCM party to extend the presidential limit to allow Magufuli who won elections in October, is currently serving his second and final five-year term in office.
The ruling party’s publicity secretary, Humphrey Polepole told parliament that Mr Magufuli has no intentions of remaining in power beyond his current constitutionally mandated time.

During his first term in office, Mr Magufuli had dismissed such proposals and made it clear that he would not extend his stay in office.
“I will not extend my [presidential] limit even by a minute.”
