Former Presidential Candidate Joseph Kabuleta has handed in his sworn affidavit to the Supreme Court of Uganda in support of Kyagulanyi Sentamu’s case against President Museveni’s victory in the January 14th elections.
The former sports journalist who ran for President in the just concluded January 14th elections, came in 7th position our of the eleven contestants after garnering 45,424 votes (0.44%).
Museveni was declared winner by the Uganda Electoral Commission on January 16th, 2021, after garnering an overwhelming 6,042,898 votes which translated to 58.38% of the total votes cast in the hotly contested election.
Kabuleta, just like other opposition candidates rejected the results that were used by the Uganda Electoral Commission to declare Museveni winner and thus retaining the presidential office which he has held for the past 35 years.
The runner-up in the election, National Unity Platform’s Kyagulanyi Sentamu alias Bobi Wine took tot he courts of law to contest the results and filed the election petition on February 1st, 2021.
Other opposition political parties, including Democratic Party (DP) and the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) pledged to back up Kyagulanyi in court even though promised not to file petitions of their own.
Joseph Kabuleta has this morning revealed that he has handed in his sworn affidavit to back up Kyagulanyi in support of the latter’s election petition in the Supreme Court against Museveni, the Uganda Electoral Commission as well as the Attorney General.
