The senior pastor of Makerere Community Church, Pr. Martin Ssempa has asked National Unity Platform (NUP) president Kyagulanyi Sentamu alias Bobi Wine to stop insulting religious leaders like himself.
The Ugandan-American pastor was reacting to Bobi Wine’s statements that the former presidential candidate made during the celebration of the life of the Late Bishop Janani Luwum at the NUP party headquarters in Kamwokya.
In his statement, Bobi Wine said that the religious leaders in the country had turned into business dealers and feared Museveni more than they did fear God. He called on them to reflect and emulate the life that Janani Luwum lived.
In response to Bobi Wine’s statements about the religious leaders, the seemingly agitated pastor, asked the singer-turned-politician to not only stop insulting religious leaders but also apologize for his totalitarian attack on religion.
According to Pr. Ssempa, it was wrong for Bobi Wine to judge and label all religious leaders apostate and no-longer God fearing.
We shall await Bobi Wine’s apology, if and when it comes through.
