According to The New Times Rwanda’s leading daily newspaper, Emmanuel Muvandimwe,19, was sentenced to life in prison after a Gasabo Court found him guilty for raping 17 boys.
In the statement from the National Public Prosecution Authority, the sentence was passed on February 16th 2021.
The sentenced man was arrested after several parents in Gatsata sector, Gasabo district found out in October last year, that their children all boys were reportedly defiled by Muvandimwe who lived in the neighborhood.
All the 17 victims aged between 7 and 14years were allegedly defiled in the period of two months.
“On February 16th 2021, Gasabo intermediate court delivered the verdict of the case in which prosecution accuses Emmanuel Muvandimwe Defiling young aged between 7 and 14 in different times . The court convicted and sentenced him to life imprisonment.” Said the statement.
The crime was discovered on October 19th last year after Emmanuel had reportedly lured the young boys with car toys to convince and defile them.
He was sentenced to life based on article 4 of law number 069/2019 of 11/8/2019 that repeals law number 068/2018 of 30/8/2018 governing penal code in Rwanda.
