Kyagulanyi lists six reasons for withdrawing the petition that are supported with arguments in an affidavit of 22 paragraphs. According to Kyagulanyi, his witnesses are being abducted, tortured, harassed, and intimidated by state security operatives at the watch of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and Attorney General, the first and third respondents to the presidential elections petition respectively.

On Monday , February 22nd 2021 Hon Robert Kyagulanyi addressed the nation on the step he was going to take of withdrawing his presidential election petition through his lawyers from the supreme Court.

However, he hadn’t yet applied to withdraw, his statement of withdrawing brought mixed reactions to his supporters and the National Resistance Movement supporters and one of the them was paying large amounts of money for withdrawing.

Hon Kyagulanyi said he is not afraid of paying for withdrawing hence taking the final step of officially writing to the supreme Court to withdraw his petition.
