US Mission in Uganda calls off song writing competition

The US Mission in Uganda has been forced to suspend a song writing competition after various individuals and activists lashed out on them over the award of Ug Shs 200,000 that had been put up for the winner.

The contest was intended to give opportunity to aspiring songwriters to showcase their talent in the Film and Culture week between the USA and Uganda between 28th and 30th May, 2021 at the National Theatre in Kampala.

After, several individuals took to social media to denounce the amount attached to the winners prize for the competition, the US Mission responded with a tweet on their official Twitter account with a statement suspending the competition until the prize reward is revised.
