Musician Edirisa Musuuza commonly known as Eddy Kenzo has come out and explained how he met Africa’s legend Kanda Bongo Man the dream of many musicians.
Kanda Bongo Man is a Congolese soukous musician. Kanda Bongo Man was born in Inongo, Democratic Republic of the Congo. He became the singer for Orchestra Belle Mambo in 1973, developing a sound influenced by Tabu Ley
Eddy Kenzo said Kanda Bongo Man requested to meet him when he cane to Uganda something that surprised him because he couldn’t think he knows him.
Kenzo made the statement while gearing up to release his 9th album titled ‘Made in Africa during a listener’s session on Thursday and sampled some of the songs on his album.
The album features one of Africa’s biggest legends, Kanda Bongo Man.
Kenzo said that he featured a Kanda song, Monie remix, on the album on the legends request.
“He came to Uganda and requested to meet me. I was surprised that he knew who I was. It was humbling. He lauded me for lifting the African style of music and being original. He then asked me to do a remix of his song, Monie.”
Kanda Bongo Man has a long list of stages that he has played on across the globe. Stages that include Glastonbury Festival, Central Park, New York & WOMAD festival
