NUP zeroes down on leaders of Opposition in Parliament

National Unity Platform led by President Robert Kyagulanyi commonly known as Bobi Wine has zeroed down on the leaders of opposition in Parliament.

The opposition leader always comes from the opposition political party that has many members in Parliament and this time NUP emerged with 69 members as the highest number.

However according to daily monitor it is said that Mpuuga beat Medard Sseggona (Busiro South) and John Baptist Nambeshe (Manjiya County) who were also considered as favourites for the position

People have been on wait for the person that will be appointed as the leader of opposition and on 28th May 2021, NUP released a press statement showing all the leaders appointed in the minority side.

Hon Mathias Mpuga was appointed as the leader of opposition, Hon Nambeshe John Baptiste as the opposition chief whip, Commission of Parliament Hon Francis Zaake and others in the link below.

It is a surprise to many as other opposition members were waiting to see if NUP will give them some positions but unfortunately, non was given to them.

Former opposition chief whip Hon Ibrahim Semujju Nganda had earlier said NUP is greedy and partly deal with the government so they cant appoint them.

This came after they refused to vote him as the speaker of the 11th parliament having 109 opposition MPS but only got 15 votes not even half of his party.
