FDC is going through a hang over-Mathias Mpuuga

The new Leader of Opposition Mathias Mpuuga and Nyendo-Mukungwe legislator Mathias Mpuuga has come out to explain why the opposition continues to be disunited.

He said that for instance, FDC is not happy with the idea that NUP took the centre stage among opposition parties as the biggest.

It should be noted that the opposition parties have invested more energy in disagreements amongst themselves rather than uniting against a common enemy.

This was much evident when FDC official flag bearer in the recently concluded parliament speakership race,Ibrahin Semujju Nganda got only 15 votes in a parliament that houses over 100 opposition MPs.

Semujju went on a rant accusing NUP of undermining other opposition political parties. The Kiira municipality MP said that he had tried to reach out to NUP and it’s leader Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu but got bounced.

This has created a deepening row but Mpuuga said FDC just got overwhelmed by NUP’s “robadob’ style to parliament.

“I understand the situation of our comrades in FDC. They have been where we are for the last 15 or 20 years and they never educated themselves of this possibility. It could be a little bit of hangover but I know it will calm down. ” Mpuuga said.

He however said that he won’t reply to the angry comments from FDC in an angry tone but rather sit them down and talk.

“I am abit shocked and disappointed by our comrades in FDC, and I have encouraged my comrades in NUP not to fight back.” Mpuuga added.

Mpuuga also added how he was ready to share views with FDC since they share the common objective ‘removing a dictator’.

“I’m inviting FDC not to try and patronise NUP because it will not work. We can share views but we shall not agree to be patronised. A few individuals are the ones trying to make the relationship frosty.” He added.

Mpuuga made these comments while appearing on the NBS morning Breeze show.
