Residents of Kayunga woke up in shock as a NUP cadre and chairman for Kayunga district local government was found hanging dead on a tree in the morning of June 16th.
The deceased was identified as Ffeffekka Serubogo Muhammad.
Nup took to it’s official Twitter page to confirm the news.
The tweet said that Serubogo was a very vocal man fighting against corruption and land grabbing in the area.
They also added that the locals alleged how he might have been murdered and hang on a tree to cover up the murder.
“This morning we woke up to incredibly sad and shocking news of the sudden death of our NUP Member & Chairman for Kayunga District Local Government, comrade Ffeffekka Serubogo Muhammad.He was found hanging on a tree. For now we are getting mixed messages from the people on ground.” The tweet read.
They also added how they hoped police would carry out an independent investigation to find the real cause of death.
“With many saying he might have been murdered, & as a cover up hang on the tree!He has been very vocal against corruption and land grabbing.We hope investigations will be done independently to establish the real cause of this shocking incident.
