Deputy Resident City Commissioner of Nakawa Burora Herbert closed Forest Mall & Shoprite along Lugogo Bypass over failure to follow the presidential directives & Ministry of Health- Uganda SOPs on COVID-19.
The statement about the closure was released yesterday saying with effect from 14th July 2021 Forest Mall and ShopRite on Lugogo Bypass should stop working.
According to the statement these malls to be opened again must first prove they will follow Covid19 SOPs by doing the things they have been told to do.
“With effective from 14th July 2021, Forest Mall and ShopRite will be closed until the financial institutions operating from those premises provide transport for the workers with Standard Operating procedures as guided by government. And no private cars will be allowed around those premises expect those few of executive staff.”
“Restaurants around should prove social distancing and pharmacies will be open upon workers identifying themselves.” The statement read.
It should be noted that these are the first big malls closed in the second wave of Covid19 lockdown around Kampala.
