Meet Uganda’s most wanted man with a price tag of Ugx 20 million

Uganda Police yesterday announced a bounty of Ugx 20 million to anyone who had news or could help in the tracking of Sheikh Abdu Ubaida Badir Diin Bukenya.

Sheikh Bukenya is the brain behind the domestic terror cells that have been carrying out spontaneous armed murders in the country according to police.

Information leading to his arrest was originally at Ugx 5million but it was raised yesterday to Ugx 20million.

“The Joint Security Agencies have raised the reward for any information leading to the arrest of its Most Wanted Person, a one Sheikh ABU UBAIDA BADIR DIIN BUKENYA, the overall coordinator of domestic terror cells, in the country, from Ugx. 5m to Ugx. 20m.” Uganda Police announced to the public.

The police said that it believed the raise in the reward will act as an incentive to all those knowing about Sheikh Bukenya’s whereabouts to hand him in.

This came after the police arrested a one Kanaabe in the Gen Katumba Wamala attempted assassination crackdown.

Kanaabe confessed to having participated in a series of planned and highly sophisticated murders and aggravated robberies which led to the murder of 14 people and attempted murder of 3 others.

According to the police spokesperson Fred Enanga, Sheik Bukenya was actively recruiting assailants and reactivating the terror cells.

His name is mentioned in some of the high profiled murders in the country such as Maj Muhammad Kiggundu and his body guard, AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi, the recent one that claimed Gen Katumba’s daughter and driver among others.
