Kawempe North Member of Parliament Ssegirinya Muhammad and Makindye West Member if Parliament Allan Ssewanyana have again been charged new terrorism cases.
This happened today 15th September 2021 while they appeared before Masaka grade one magistrate Grace Wakoli.
According to the senior resident attorney Richard Birivumbuka, the state has amended the charge sheet of the group adding two more charges.
“The state had amended the charge sheet of the group adding two more charges. The group and others at large in the period of January to August took part in killing people in Masaka region and other parts of the country. Inquiries into this case is still ongoing, I ask court to adjourn the matter.” Richard Birivuka said.
Ssegirinya and Ssewanyana were remanded to Kitalya prison on 5th September 2021 three days after they were summoned to make a statement about Masaka killings.
NUP’s defense lawyer Shamim Malende told court that the state is free to add all charges it wishes but they should look into the matter and show true people killing people.
It should be noted that the accused now face up to six charges including three murders and one attempted murder in addition to the two fresh ones.
