Spark TV’s Livewire facing ban from UCC

The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) which is responsible for regulating content that is aired on Uganda’s media platforms has come out to halt Spark TV’s Livewire program.

This was after the TV station and the program failed to adhere to the new UCC regulations.

The Commission earlier this week ordered all gossip shows to shift from their traditional hours to 10pm-5am.

This was however not adhered to by Spark TV and the program hence it’s suspension.

In the letter issued to the station, the station was asked to halt the program and also hand in their video recordings from the period of 1st September to 20th October 2021.

It’s only Livewire of the 11 gossip programs that failed to adhere to the new rules.
