Edwin Katamba aka MC Kats got his efforts in the fight against HIV/ AIDS appreciated by President Museveni yesterday at Kololo Independence Grounds.
This was during the celebrations to mark the world AIDS day.
President Museveni through his Twitter page posted a picture of MC Kats who is the ambassador of Uganda AIDS Commission.
The President then said that the country has come a long way in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
The President then thanked everyone who has put up a tough fight against HIV/AIDS.
President Museveni added that it’s the responsibility of everyone to put up a spirited fight against HIV so that no one dies from the disease anymore.
Kats in his submission revealed how he was stigmatized to the point of depression.
“I remember one of the newspapers ran a headline saying that I infected my baby mama and this really broke me and my family down. I was even advised to sue the newspaper but I thought of the many people out there who have no voice and face the same problem. I decided that press conferences to create awareness about this problem was the best way to go,” he said.
Ever since Kats went public about his HIV status, he’s has been putting in a lot of efforts to end the stigma against HIV victims.
