Social media has caused a lot of internal pain to many of us – Frank Gashumba supporting Nsereko’s bill about social media

Sisimuka CEO, political and social critic Frank Gashumba has come out to support the social media bill being pushed by Kampala Member of Parliament Muhammad Nsereko in parliament.

Last week Muhammad Nsereko came out with the bill of regulating the use of social media in Uganda by setting punishments for those who misuse it like abusing other people.

It is now a trend in Uganda, people attack one another verbally and nothing is done to them.

Frank Gashumba also came out to support Nsereko’s bills saying social media has terrorists who need to be checked.

Outspoken Gashumba went ahead and said many people have suffered internally because of social media yet other countries use social media to develop themselves.

“To use Uganda’s social media, you have to have a thick skin. Social media has caused a lot of internal pain to many of us. In other countries people have used social media to develop themselves, but in Uganda, there is a culture of people demeaning others and using obscene language,” Frank Gashumba said

Many Ugandans especially those from National Unity Platform are not supporting the bill. They are saying social media is their platform to speak out their hearts.
