Juliana Kanyomozi is a Ugandan musician, actress entertainer and entrepreneur.
She’s also a multiple award-winning Ugandan pop musician, R&B and an Afro Beat musician.
Birth and Family
Juliana was born on the 27th of November, 1980 in Fort Portal, Tooro Kingdom.
This is found in Western Uganda and she is Mutooro by tribe and also a princess in Tooro Kingdom.
Juliana is a first class cousin to the reigning king of Tooro, Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru.
Juliana’s father was a drummer while her mother was a vocalist in the kingdom. It’s therefore no wonder that she’s hugely talented.
Education
The beautiful, talented and sexy diva went to City Primary School currently Arya Primary School for her primary education.
Juliana later on went to Bugema Secondary School for her O’level education.
She then proceeded to Namasagali College for her A’level which is found in Kamuli district.
Career
It was at Namasagali College that she Kickstarted her music career.
She linked up with another hugely talented female singer, Iryn Namubiru to form the I-JAY girl group.
The two occasionally performed at Sabrina’s pub karaoke nights.
They did a number of songs before bitterly parting ways.
Each would launch a solo career and Juliana’s hugely became successful.
She featured the likes of Benon and Vampos, Klear Kut in her earlier songs.
During this time, she got a job on Capital FM where she worked on tje midmorning show.
Her music wasn’t ruling the airwaves then as she used to do more of English songs which didn’t meet the market demands.
In 2005, she teamed up with Bobi Wine and released two songs titled Taata wa baana and Mama Mbire which became instant hits.
Juliana then proceeded to release her solo album Nabikoowa which hugely sold out especially the Nabikoowa single.
hat year, Juliana took home the PAM Award for Best Female Artiste, along with the Best R&B Song title for Nabikoowa.
Kanyomozi was the first female musician to win the Pearl of Africa Music Awards ‘Artist of the Year’ accolade
Juliana also was part of the Tusker Project Fame judges between 2009-2013 alongside the likes of Ian Mbugua from Kenya and Tanzania’s Hermes Joachim. Gaetano Kagwa alongside other personalities who were the hosts of the show.
Juliana has won many awards both local and internationally.
Personal Life
Kanyomozi had a son, Keron Raphael Kabugo, who died in late July 2014 who she sired with ex Amon Lukwago.
Keron succumbed to asthmat but the cause of death was not published. This death devastated tje singer and she recently how she became depressed.
On Wednesday 12 May 2020, Juliana announced that she had given birth to a baby boy that she named Taj although she didn’t reveal his father pr the baby’s face.
Juliana in 2006 after breaking up with Amon had a brief romantic relationship with United States-based Ugandan boxer Kassim Ouma.
Juliana is also rumored to have dated the likes of ex footballer Mujib Kasule, singer Peter Miles, South African based Sangoma King Lawrence among others.
She was at one time rated one of the most beautiful Ugandan women of all-time.
