Computer Misuse Bill among four signed into law by President Museveni

The President of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has signed four bills into law.

Museveni assented to the bills on Thursday, 13th October which are;

•The Physical Planners Registration Act. 2022

•The Kampala Capital City (Amendment Act, 2022)

•The Mining and Minerals Act, 2022

•The Computer Misuse (Amendment) Act, 2022.

On 8th September 2022, Parliament passed the Computer Misuse Bill after it’s introduction by Kampala Central Member of Parliament, Muhammad Nsereko.

The bill criminalizes sharing false, malicious and unsolicited information. It also criminalizes the use of photos on social media without the permission of the owners.

Those found guilty of recording videos and others voice without their permission will be fined Shs10 million.
