Jowy Landa Questions Lack of Hit Songs From Uganda’s Biggest Artists

By BigEyeUg Team

Singer Jowy Landa has shared her frustration about the current state of Uganda’s music industry over what she describes as a shortage of hit songs from some of the country’s biggest artists.

Taking to her X (formerly Twitter) account, the singer questioned why established musicians continue to release music that seemingly fails to capture the public’s attention.

“What’s happening to the music industry?? Big artists have no hits anymore yet they are releasing music… staff is slow waguan?? Guess we need some competition, we need to pull up the tension. People are bored and broke,” she wrote.

Her comments suggest that the industry may have become too comfortable, with a lack of healthy competition affecting the quality and impact of new releases.

According to her, introducing more rivalry and raising the stakes could inspire artists to produce bigger and better music.

She also hinted that audiences may not be engaging with new songs as much as before, partly because many people are struggling financially and are becoming increasingly selective about the entertainment they consume.
