A year after giving Kampala a reason to slow down, sing along and reconnect with the music that shaped a generation, the Old School Picnic returns to the Sheraton Kampala Hotel Gardens this Sunday for its first anniversary.
The celebration comes at a time when nostalgia has become one of the strongest forces in Kampala’s lifestyle and entertainment scene. Over the past year, the Old School Picnic has carved out its own space by bringing together audiences around classic RnB, Soul and Ugandan music, creating afternoons where the music is as much about memory as it is entertainment.
For its anniversary edition, the picnic will bring together some of Kampala’s leading DJs alongside two special live performances from maestros Myko Ouma, Jose Sax and songstress Lilian Mbabazi.
These will be joined by DJs, DJ Ssese, DJ Kasbaby, and Cacie; on top of all that, Ms Deedan will bring the high energy on the mic.
The three musicians bring different but complementary dimensions to the experience. Ouma, one of Uganda’s most respected instrumentalists and producers, is expected to add his signature musicianship to an event built around timeless music, while Mbabazi will take the audience through some of the songs that have made her one of the country’s most recognizable voices.
The DJ lineup will keep the afternoon moving between old-school RnB, Soul and Ugandan classics, creating the kind of soundtrack that has become central to the picnic’s identity.
But the first anniversary is about more than the music. It is a celebration of the moments the event has created over its first year, friends reconnecting, strangers singing together and audiences rediscovering songs they may not have heard in years.
Baileys will add its own layer of indulgence to the celebration, bringing the creamy Irish liqueur into an afternoon designed around food, conversation and music.

Tusker Cider, meanwhile, will bring its refreshing character to the outdoor setting, complementing the picnic’s food, music and relaxed social atmosphere.

The anniversary edition is expected to capture everything that has made the picnic popular over the past year: familiar songs, live musicians, DJs, food, drinks and an audience willing to sing every word.
For a generation increasingly rediscovering the music of its youth, the Old School Picnic has become more than another event on Kampala’s social calendar.
This Sunday, as Myko Ouma, Lilian Mbabazi and the DJs take the stage at Sheraton Gardens, it will celebrate a year of music, memories and moments worth repeating.
