A man identified as Matege from Kasambira Trading Centre in Kamuli District has attracted attention online after his homemade aircraft reportedly fell during a test flight.
The craft, which he named “Chopper Fighter Jet 136 Matege UG”, is made from metal materials and features rotor blades, a cockpit-like section and motorcycle-style wheels. Images and videos circulating online show the green-painted machine before and after the incident.
Reports about the crash differ on whether Matege escaped unharmed or suffered a broken arm. He has reportedly appealed for support to continue developing the project.

Matege is said to have ambitious plans for the machine, including the ability to travel on roads and fly at high altitudes. Claims about its proposed capabilities, including being bulletproof, have also circulated online.
The incident has generated mixed reactions, with some social media users praising his creativity and calling for support, while others have questioned the aircraft’s design and raised concerns about the dangers of testing an uncertified homemade flying machine.
The story has also revived memories of previous attempts by Ugandan inventors to build homemade aircraft, some of which ended in crashes.
However, there has been no detailed official aviation investigation report establishing the circumstances of the incident or confirming the machine’s technical capabilities.
