The president of the opposition political party (NUP) has revealed that more NUP supporters who were recently abducted were brought to court yesterday 8th June 2021 charged and remanded.
The freshly remanded NUP followers joined the likes of Nubian Li, Eddy Mutwe, Dan Magic and many others who were imprisoned in December 2020 and have now spent five months in prison.
Bobi Wine posted on Twitter said the remanded NUP supporters dispeared and the party has been in efforts looking for them. But surprisingly surprise they were produced to court yesterday and charged with charges he termed ‘bogus’ and then remanded.
“These @NUP_Ug supporters were abducted, kept incommunicado, tortured! Close to a month, we’ve been looking for them. Yesterday they were brought to a military court in absence of lawyers, charged with bogus charges and remanded! These crimes against Ugandans must be accounted for” Bobi Wine posted on his official twitter handle.
However, NUP principal Bobi Wine didn’t disclose their names but he posted their photos only.
It should be noted that NUP supporters started to be abducted last 2020 when they protested for the release of Bobi Wine after he was detained by police during his presidential election campaign.
