Several artists and other celebrities have condemned Police’s arrest of 2021 Presidential Candidate and Kyadondo East Member of Parliament, Hon. Kyagulanyi Sentamu in Luuka District in Eastern Uganda.

Kyagulanyi was arrested at the Luuka District Headquarters grounds were he was scheduled to campaign ahead of next year’s elections and whisked away to the infamous Nalufenya Police Station in Jinja Dsitrict.

Protests across the country followed in which a number of people were confirmed dead and many others reported injured.

Celebrities have taken to social media to decry police brutality towards Hon. Kyagulanyi Sentamu alias Bobi Wine and his supporters.

A Pass was one among the first to demand for the release of Bobi Wine posting on his twitter account with a hashtag #FreeBobiWine

Many others followed including international artists like Sauti Sol and King Kaka from Kenya. The #FreeBobiWine hashtag has since garnered a whooping 70k tweets on Twitter alone with a sister hashtag #StopPoliceBrutality having almost 11k tweets in less that 24 hours.

A voice of reason, a call for humanity and equal treatment never gets out of fashion and we commend all those who have used their positions of power to call out on this injustice as well as condemn Uganda Police’s mistreatment of the people that they swore to serve and protect.
