The wave of death sweeping across the country this year has not retired yet and latest addition to it’s long list of victims is former Uganda National team Boxing captain Isaac Ssenyange aka Zebra Mando.
Zebra Ssenyange was gunned down in the wee hours of the night on Tuesday, December 29th 2020 around his home area in Bwaise.
Police later reached the scene in Bugalani zone in Bwaise III and took his body to the City Mortuary at Mulago as investigations into his death got under way.
Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesman Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed the death of Ssenyange and promised to give a detailed statement in the course of the day.
The murdered boxer’s wife told residents that the people who killed her husband knocked on his door and upon opening, shot him several times.
Mando was only 39 years of age and was the Head of General Duties of Uganda Boxing Federation at the time of his death.
He was passionate about the sport with his major focus on underground armature boxers, with a zeal to see them go pro.
