Gov’t threatens media houses that defy UCC directives

Minister of ICT Judith Nabakoba said the government is going to take action against media houses that have failed to implement the recent directives from Uganda Communication Commission.

Minister Judith Nabakoba made this statement while re-branding one of the local media house Top TV.

Minister Nabakoba said according to UCC directives all Ugandan local media houses are required to have 80% of their programming as local content of which some media houses are not doing.

“I maintain that all local media houses are required to have 80% of their programming as local content as required by UCC” Nabakoba said.

Minister Judith Nabakoba said government will take action on some media houses that are failing to adhere one by one.
