Security Minister Gen. Elly Tumwine scoffed at social media critics that pronounced him dead a couple days ago.
The Minister said that he is a good health and contrary to speculations about his health and alleged death.
Tumwine said these things while attending the 40th Tahere Sita Anniversary prayers at the Mbuya Army Barracks in Kampala on Wednesday, January 6th, 2020.
Gen. Tumwine also added that he was overwhelmed by the love that many Ugandans showed him when he was falsely reported dead. He said people from near and far reached out to him to check on him.
“I was overwhelmed by messages of love when I was falsely reported dead, my phone didn’t stop ringing. One old woman in Bunyoro developed diarrhea and others developed high blood pressure because of the news”Gen. Elly Tumwine, Security Minister
Gen. Tumwine was pronounced dead on social media and many among the Ugandans on Twitter celebrated his death before they found out that he was actually alive and well.
The “hatred” of Ugandans for the Minister stemmed from comments that he made about the Ugandans that were killed in November following the arrest of Kyadondo East legislator and National Unity Platform presidential candidate Hon. Kyagulanyi Sentamu alias Bobi Wine.
The minister said that the security forces had the right to shoot and kill Ugandans if they (security forces) felt it necessary. The statements didn’t sit well with Ugandans and they sure expressed their dissatisfaction and celebrated when the minister was allegedly unwell and pronounced dead.
