Makerere University postpones orientation of freshers

Following President Museveni’s advice to the National Council of Higher Education not to re-open institutions of higher learning for at least three (3) more months, Makerere University has postponed its orientation program for freshers.

This implies that the academic program that the university was scheduled to restart following the long break caused by the Covid-19 pandemic will most likely continue till further notice.

The university had earlier announced that freshers were to report on Saturday January 30th and have their orientation program kick off on Monday February 1st, 2021.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the University had hinted on having a virtual orientation program but from the look of things, it seems like there are a few things to put in place before all that can be done.

The University through their official social media platforms announced that the orientation program for the freshers which was scheduled for Monday will not take place as it has been postponed to a later date which will be communicated later.

From the look of things, vacists who have been vacists for more than a year, will retain their vacist title for some more time.
