Former Presidential Candidate Mr. Willy Mayamba has expressed interest in taking over the election petition challenging President Museveni’s victory in the 2021 Presidential Elections that was filed by National Unity Platform’s Kyagulanyi Sentamu alias Bobi Wine.

In a letter dated February 25th, 2021, addressed to the Supreme Court and the Chief Justice of Uganda, Mayambala objected Kyagulanyi’s move to withdraw th case and requested to take it on.

In this letter, Mayambala requested the Supreme Court and the Chief Justice to guide him on what the necessary procedures are, what is required of him to inherit the petition as well as if there is any chance for him to add new evidence to the already existing evidence presented by Kyagulanyi’s team to the court.

Willy Mayambala was one of the eleven (11) contestants for the Uganda Presidential seat in the just concluded General Elections where he garnered only 15,014 votes translating to 0.15% of the total votes cast.

Much as he had the least votes in the race, he has expressed interest in contesting the election results which almost all Presidential Candidates rejected from the very day the votes were cast on January 14th, 2021.

Whether or not his request will be granted by the Supreme Court of Uganda and the Chief Justice is all up to the courts of law as we look forward to their decision.
