Social media was, on Thursday December 10, 2020 awash with the news of the passing of the 2nd Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of East African Community Affairs in the Ugandan Cabinet, Mr Kirunda Kivejinja.
The government, however, through the minister for Information and Communications Technology, Judith Nabakoba trashed these allegations and confirmed that the 85 year old minister was alive.
“Disregard the false information circulating on social media about the death of the Second Deputy Prime Minister Rt. Hon Alhaji Kirunda Kivejinja. He is still alive though in ICU under care. His blood pressure and sugars are under control,”Judith Nabakoba
Hon. Nabakoba also explained that the minister was out of Kampala for sometime on official duty when his health deteriorated.
His nephew, Prof Wasswa Balunywa told the media that the minister’s health condition had been stabilized even though he was still hospitalized at Mulago Hospital.
Prof. Balunywa added that Hon. Kirunda is suffering from diabetes, though Malaria complicated it.
“When President Yoweri Museveni found out about it, he directed that he should be taken to Mulago Hospital. But he does not have COVID-19. Let us pray and continue to pray for his good health,” Prof. Balunywa added.
We wish the Minister a speedy recovery.
