MUK reschedules Academic Year 2020 – 2021

Makerere University Kampala has rescheduled the academic year for 2020/21 which will be used to enable all students get back to school.

All institutions of learning have been on a long break since the suspension of academic activities in March 2020 following the break out of Covid-19.

The phased reopening of schools including Universities that was scheduled to begin in October 2020 did not roll out as planned as it was affected by the 2021 general elections.

Finalists were sent back to school although they did not complete the academic year but are scheduled to return to complete it soon.

According to Makerere University, the finalists have been studying online and will continue doing so.

The administration also stated that teaching and learning for continuing students will commence on February 8th, 2021.

The president while communicating to the nation about reopening of schools revealed that semi-candidate classes would be allowed back to school in mArch while the rest will have to wait till candidates have completed their final exams.

Following the president’s advice on reopening schools, Makerere University has scheduled their academic year saying,
“The registration, enrollment and teaching of freshers will commence on 1st March, 2021.”

Makerere University asked students to the patient until they find a good way of opening in a staggered manner.
“A schedule for staggered learning of all students on campus will be issued as soon as arrangements are completed.”
