Police deny arresting Bobi Wine in Kalangala

The Uganda Police has released a statement denying claims by the National Unity Platform and other media houses that NUP presidential candidate Hon. Kyagulanyi Sentamu alias Bobi Wine has been arrested.

Through a statement released on their official Twitter handle, the Uganda Police have said that they only restrained the presidential candidate who was violating the directives from the Electoral Commission by holding mass rallies.

They added that they are delivering him back to his home in Magere, Kampala from Kalangala where he was picked up from.

The police have also clarified that they are holding members of Bobi Wine’s advance and security team for allegedly deflating tyres of police motor vehicles , inciting violence, obstructing police officers on duty, violating the health and safety protocols and various traffic offences.
