Mukono Woman MP legislator Hon Betty Bakireke Nambooze has come out to say that President Museveni has an idea of the assailants that tried to assassinate Gen Katumba Wamala.
Bullets rained on the General’s car yesterday as he was going to attend his mother-in-law’s vigil. He however escaped death with minor injuries but the bullets claimed the lives of his daughter and driver.
President Museveni while addressing the incident said he was going to work hard to bring the culprits to book whom he branded as pigs. The president went ahead to say that the General’s bodyguard should have shot the attackers with an intent to kill instead of shooting in the air.
The legislator while appearing on NBS TV’s Barometer show said the president’s remarks shows something fishy.
“President Museveni’s response shows that he knows the assailants. ” Nambooze said.
Nambooze added that the current security state is worrying with Ugandans having to survive by chance.
“The Uganda we are in today is about comforting ourselves.
How lucky is Gen. Katumba Wamala to survive the assassination?!
It was shocking to see the body guard unharmed yet Katumba was soaked in blood.” Betty Nambooze added.
Nambooze added that the assailants may not have wanted to kill the minister of works and transport but rather send a message to him.
“I think the assassins were sending a message to Katumba.”Nambooze concluded.
