The Speaker of the Uganda Parliament, Hon Rebecca Kadaga has summoned the Leader of Government Business in Parliament, the Rt Hon Ruhankana Rugunda to appear before parliament and explain trade war with Kenya.

This comes after a section of members of parliament called for the Government’s intervention in the actions of the Kenyan Government that saw Ugandan commodities initially imported by the Eastern neighbors blocked.

Hon Kadaga asked that the Office of the Prime Minister comes tot he House and explain Government’s position as regards negotiating for either a reconsideration of Ugandan exports to Kenya or blocking of the imports from Kenyatta-land.

Hon Kadaga also criticized the slow response of the government towards the actions of the neighboring countries hostility towards Uganda in terms of trade liberty over the East African trade block.

This comes after both Kenya and Rwanda, two of the countries that are member states of the East African trading block ripped trade ties with Uganda after blocking goods coming from Uganda into those respective countries.

Therefore, either Dr Ruhankana Rugunda or his deputy Gen Moses Ali are expected to appear before the Uganda Parliament to elucidate on the matters at hand.
