The Uganda airlines in it’s bid to grow the national carrier globally and on the continent yesterday launched it’s ever first direct flight from Entebbe to South Africa.
The Bombardier will take to the South African skies four times a week. These flights are expected to take four hours.
While flagging off the first official flight from Entebbe International airport, the ministry of works permanent secretary, Mr Bageya Waiswa urged the airline officials to concentrate on growing the national carrier.
By 3pm yesterday, the Bombardier had touched down at the OR Tambo international airport in Johannesburg. This new development is expected to boost the commercial ties between the two countries.
It should be remembered that there are lots of Ugandan who do business from South Africa and these welcomed this development.
In the past few years the government together with the Uganda airlines have concentrated on reviving the national carrier after decades if inactivity.
