On the night of Friday, 20th November, Uganda’s Pamela Aleper from Karamoja beat other 30 finalists from over 15 countries to be crowned Miss Africa Golden in Lagos, Nigeria.
Last evening, it was all pomp, glamour, and enchantment as the 23 year old who hails from Karamoja region returned home as the newly crowned Miss Africa Golden, taking over from Amanda Akunne, a Moroccan.
Aleper became the first Ugandan to win this pageant, at the third edition of the beauty contest.
Accompanied by her overly joyed parents, Aleper was received at Entebbe International Airport at 9:15 am, with a crowd of friends, fans, and relatives who traveled all the way from Karamoja.
Upon arrival, she described how difficult the journey to her victory was, especially when it came to funding.
Going forward, Aleper urged the government through the Ministry of Tourism to strengthen support towards such contests that continue to fly the Uganda flag high.
“I would like to thank the people of Uganda and my family for voting for me and ensuring that I go through the preliminary rounds of the competition, which enabled me to win the contest eventually”Pamela Aleper, Miss Africa Golden
