As the entire nation is still in shock about the failed assassination on Gen Katumba Wamala’s life, different government officials have given their opinion about the whole incident.
Four unknown gunmen riding on motorcycles tried to kill the General but failed instead claiming the lives of his daughter, Brenda Nantongo and his driver.
The minister of works and transport was rushed to Medipal for emergency attention to the minor injuries he sustained.
Wamala later recorded a video assuring the country how he was stable. He however requested people to pray for his wife who is devastated beyond shock at the death of their daughter.
President Museveni has also commented about this incident. The president said he had talked to Gen Katumba on phone twice and he was recuperating slowly.
“The pigs who do not value life shot at Gen. Katumba killed his daughter and driver and injured him. Condolences on the loss of the two Ugandans. I talked to Gen. Katumba twice on the phone. He is being well-managed.” President Museveni tweeted.
The president added that the general’s bodyguard should have shot the assailants with an aim to kill instead of shooting in the air.
“I wish Gen. Katumba a quick recovery. The bodyguard should not have shot in the air. He should have shot to kill. We could be having a dead terrorist instead of scaring away the terrorists. His shooting saved Gen. Katumba by scaring the criminals away.” Part if the president’s tweet read.
