Singer Ronald Mayinja was not paid to join National Resistance Army, the ruling party has said.
Mayinja recently confirmed crossing over from Bobi Wine’s NUP to NRM, claiming that he was insulted.
In dramatic turn of events, Mayinja who was a big critic of Museveni and the NRM, made a campaigning song that heaps praise to Museveni.
“We have not paid Mayinja anything to join us, there is no proof of payment for that cause,” Justin Kasule Lumumba, NRM Secretary General said.
“However, I thank him for joining us and seeing the light, for coming out open to tell the world about joining NRM.
“Its good that he made a song as a gift in addition to his vote.”
Mayinja had earlier returned to NUP despite reports of a secret meeting with Museveni at Kisozi.
