Zafaran Insists On Live Band Performances, Urges Event Organisers To Ditch CDs

Singer Zafaran has made it clear that she is no longer interested in performing to pre-recorded tracks, revealing that event organisers must provide a live band setup if they want to book her for shows.

Speaking in a recent interview, Zafaran explained that live performance has always been a core part of her musical journey and that she wants to maintain that standard as her career grows.

Joining the music industry, I have always been a live performer, so I request we maintain that. It’s going to be strictly and strictly live,” she said.

The singer noted that she is flexible when it comes to the size of the band and can adjust depending on the organiser’s budget. She explained that clients can choose between a full live band, an acoustic setup, or even a simpler arrangement featuring only a keyboard or guitar.

If you hire me, you should know I’m either coming with a full band, acoustic… depending on your budget. I don’t chase away gigs. If you say we can’t perform with a live band, I can perform for you with just the keyboard or I can perform with just a guitar,” she added.

Addressing concerns about performances in upcountry areas and smaller venues, Zafaran said her requirements are not meant to exclude organisers from remote locations. Instead, she believes live music enhances the audience experience and allows her songs to be fully appreciated.

The beauty about my music, when you book me in Arua in a bar, I gotta perform it live to totally make sense. So when you hire me, you know that’s my position,” she said.

Zafaran also used the opportunity to encourage fellow artists to embrace live performances, arguing that audiences deserve more value for the money they spend on entertainment.

“It’s a wake-up call to my fellow artists. CD is good, but give people value for their money,” she stated.
