Kampala had a different kind of Saturday night as professional boxing stepped into a world of fine dining, live entertainment and premium hospitality.
The inaugural Pearl of Africa Fight Night took place on Saturday, 8th August at Fairway Hotel Kampala, bringing together boxing, lifestyle and entertainment for an experience that was unlike the usual fight night.
From the moment guests arrived, it was clear this was going to be different.
The gardens of Fairway Hotel were transformed into an elegant outdoor fight-night setting, with the boxing ring taking centre stage, surrounded by beautifully set tables, premium hospitality and an atmosphere that felt more like a luxury night out than a traditional boxing event.
And then the fighters stepped into the ring.
The night featured a packed professional boxing card, with a strong mix of Ugandan and international boxing talent. Fazil Juma led the lineup alongside Kakungulu Yashin, Simbwa Reagan, K.O Busungu, Okou Fedrick, Twahir Hussein, Mpima Marvin, Nabunya Hasifah, Muduuwa Brendah, Mayeko Steven, Saidi Chako, Ambayo Patrick, Kisubi Bashir and Kyobe Jonah.
The card also featured Reagan Simbwa from Australia, adding an international dimension to the inaugural event.
The fights brought the intensity you’d expect from a serious boxing night, with fans fully invested in the action while enjoying everything happening around the ring.
Boxing, But Make It Premium
Pearl of Africa Fight Night was built around a simple idea: boxing can be more than a fight.
Between the bouts, DJs kept the energy high as guests enjoyed fine dining, drinks and premium hospitality.
It created an interesting mix.
One moment, the entire venue was locked onto the ring waiting for the next exchange. The next, the DJ had the crowd moving and guests were back to enjoying the food, drinks and conversations around their tables.
It was this combination that gave the night its unique identity.
The event brought together boxing fans, corporate guests, entertainment personalities, sports enthusiasts and Kampala’s social crowd, creating an environment where people could enjoy the sport while still having the kind of night out they would expect from a premium lifestyle event.
A Different Way to Experience Boxing
For the organisers, the inaugural edition was about more than putting fighters in a ring.
It was about creating a platform where sport, entertainment and lifestyle could exist together.
Uganda has never been short of boxing talent. What Pearl of Africa Fight Night is attempting to build is a bigger stage around that talent—one that gives fighters a premium platform while giving audiences a completely different way to experience the sport.
Fairway Hotel provided the perfect backdrop for that vision.
The ring was at the heart of the experience, but the food, music, hospitality, production and crowd all played their part in making the evening what it became.
And that may ultimately be the biggest takeaway from Season One.
Pearl of Africa Fight Night didn’t just ask people to come and watch boxing. It gave them a reason to dress up, come out, eat well, enjoy music, network and experience the sport in a completely different environment.
By the time the final bell rang, the inaugural edition had made its statement.
Boxing can be premium. Boxing can be entertainment. And boxing can be a lifestyle experience.
Pearl of Africa Fight Night is only at the beginning of its journey, but if the first edition is anything to go by, Kampala may have just found a new way to experience fight night.
