Veteran media personality MC Kats has opened up about his HIV journey, admitting that he never imagined he would contract the virus at the height of his fame and success.

Speaking candidly, Kats revealed that he sometimes wishes he could meet God and ask who infected him with HIV.
He explained that during the peak of his entertainment career, he was constantly in the spotlight, moving from bars to television appearances, and enjoying the celebrity lifestyle without thinking he was at risk.
“When I meet God, I want to ask him who infected me with HIV. That was the time I was all over the place; in bars, on TV and I was selling like a hot cake, and I felt like I was too cool to get HIV,” Kats said.
He added that despite having one encounter with an older woman, she later tested negative, leaving him with unanswered questions about how he contracted the virus.
Kats also reflected on how difficult HIV testing was in the past compared to today. He praised the availability of HIV self-testing kits, saying many people now have easier access to testing than his generation did.
According to him, testing previously required visiting health facilities, something he was reluctant to do because of his celebrity status and fear of appearing vulnerable.
The outspoken television presenter urged people to take advantage of modern HIV testing options, noting that early testing and awareness can make a significant difference. He expressed frustration that some people ignore the self-testing kits available today despite the convenience they offer.
