Cindy Sanyu has dismissed the possibility of facing Grace Nakimera in a music battle, saying she has too much respect for the veteran singer and no longer feels the need to prove herself through such showdowns.
Grace Nakimera recently named Cindy as the only artist she would be willing to face in a musical showdown if the opportunity ever presented itself.
However, Cindy says the idea has never crossed her mind and would instead prefer collaborating with Nakimera rather than competing against her.
“I have never thought about it, but I think it’d be an honour to work with her and I have so much respect for someone like that. But on the battle issue, I have nothing to prove. Back then I did, but now, there’s nothing,” Cindy said.
The singer added that Nakimera’s transition from secular music to gospel has changed her career path, making comparisons between them unfair. Cindy noted that she still remembers Nakimera for her chart-topping hits and believes fans should be left to make any comparisons they wish.
“I remember her from her big hits and I respect her for that. I’ll leave the comparisons to the fans, and the money I’d make from such a battle, I can make it on my own, so there’s no reason for it,” she explained.
