Mimi Kampala has revealed that pursuing music was never part of her original plans, saying she only realized she could sing after a close friend encouraged her to give it a try in the recording studio.
Speaking about her journey into the music industry, Mimi admitted that discovering her talent did not come naturally. “For me to find out that I knew how to sing was a little bit difficult,” she said, explaining that she had never seriously considered becoming an artist despite growing up in a family with some musical influence.
According to the singer, both her mother and uncle once explored music but never turned it into a long-term career, eventually choosing different paths.
It was her friend, Ezra Lweeza, who believed in her potential and persuaded her to record her first song. Although she stepped into the studio and recorded music in 2023, Mimi said she did not immediately pursue the craft or release any songs.
It was not until 2024 that she made the decision to take music seriously and build a career around it. Since then, Mimi Kampala says she has fully embraced the industry, marking the beginning of what she hopes will be a successful journey as a recording artist.
