Western Uganda music star Ray G has made it clear that he has no interest in participating in musical battles, saying they go against what music means to him.

Speaking during an interview on Galaxy FM, the singer explained that his performances are driven by the connection he builds with his fans rather than the idea of competing with another artist.
“I connect with the fans and put in so much energy and sing freely while connecting with them. Having to do all that while competing with another artist doesn’t give me what it’s supposed to give,” he said.
Ray G added that he simply doesn’t believe in the concept of music battles and questioned their purpose.
“A battle for what? What are you really battling?” he asked.
According to the singer, a music career should not be centered on proving superiority over fellow artists. Instead, he believes musicians should focus on sharing their talent with authenticity and humility.
He emphasized that artists should embrace the gifts God has given them and express themselves freely without pride or the need to compete.
“For me, it’s about doing what you love with your God-given talent. Freely let it out with no pride,” he said.
