Sheem Mwanje has opened up about the sexual advances she has faced in the entertainment industry, revealing that such experiences are not new to her as she encountered similar situations even during her time as a journalist.

Sheem explained that sexual advances and inappropriate behaviour can come from different places, including people in positions of authority and strangers on the streets. According to her, she has experienced situations where men would make unwanted advances or touch her inappropriately.
“Your bosses or even on streets, someone would touch your bum or even stop you and ask for some. Men will always be men,” Sheem said.
The singer added that after experiencing such situations repeatedly, very little surprises her anymore. Sheem said navigating the entertainment industry has taught her to deal with different personalities and challenges while remaining focused on her career.
Beyond the issue of sexual advances, Sheem also spoke about the difficulties faced by upcoming musicians, identifying music promotion as one of the biggest challenges for emerging artists.
“There is a lot of scamming to reach your music to the people. Someone sees their wealth in you who’s starting out and then takes your money and ends up playing your song at 4am,” she explained.
