Kapa Cat has opened up about the declining profitability of Uganda’s music industry, arguing that artists are doing too much work for less money while losing the respect they once commanded.

The singer revealed that she has had to venture into other income-generating activities, including offering online companionship to people who want someone to talk to.
According to Kapa Cat, some people seek her out because they are bored and need company, while others want to discuss business and other topics depending on their interests.
“Some of them want company because they’re bored. And they pay you good money for it,” she said.
She noted that some people misunderstand the arrangement, assuming that it involves sexual relations, yet that is not necessarily the case.
Kapa Cat, however, explained that she would not rule out taking things further with someone if they developed a genuine connection, emphasizing that any such decision would be entirely hers.
“I’ll sleep with whoever I want to, if I want to,” she said, clarifying that it would be a personal choice rather than something motivated by what the other person could offer her.
The singer disclosed that these online engagements have helped her pay her bills without having to constantly perform on stage.
She questioned why she would travel to perform at an event for less money when she could earn more by working from her phone.
“If people in Jinja call me to perform with a cash payment of UGX 2 million but when on my phone I make UGX 2.5 million, why would I go to Jinja?” she questioned.
Kapa Cat argued that making such a trip would not make business sense when she could earn more without the additional demands of travelling and performing.
