Simon Kaggwa Njala Denies Seeking Social Media Attention Over Ivan Ssemwanga’s eath

Journalist Simon Kaggwa Njala has denied seeking attention on social media after questioning the circumstances surrounding the death of businessman Ivan Ssemwanga.

Njala recently said Ssemwanga’s death remains mysterious to him, claiming that he contacted the hospital where the businessman reportedly died but was told there were no records of him.

His remarks have since attracted reactions from social media users, with some questioning his claims. However, Njala insists that he is not seeking likes or online popularity but is simply raising questions he believes have not been adequately answered.

Speaking about the matter, the journalist said he uses his social media pages to share personal opinions and does not blindly accept information presented to the public.

“I have my own pages where I share my personal opinions. My problem is that I am not gullible. Ugandans are so gullible; they believe anything they are told,” Njala said.

He dismissed suggestions that his remarks were driven by a desire for online engagement, questioning how many Ugandans could attract more than one million likes.

“I am not after likes because how many Ugandans have over 1 million likes? I did not give a certain answer. I only provided questions,” he added.

Njala further argued that, despite the criticism directed at him, no one had presented facts to directly counter the questions he raised.

“Up to now, I have yet to see anyone counter my question with facts. They are only insulting me,” he said.

Ssemwanga, a businessman who was widely known for his flamboyant lifestyle and association with the social group known as the Rich Gang, died in May 2017 in South Africa.
