Minister of Education and Sports first lady Janet K Museveni has requested families to safeguard a girl child during this second wave of Covid19 lockdown.
The announcement was made through her official transcript handle.
According to the post, Janet K Museveni said schools are not meant to hide children from their families but rather help them skill the Children.
Following the high rate on which young school girls are getting sexually harrased and forced in marriage, Janet K Museveni requested families to safeguard a girl child for the better future.
“Schools were to help skill the children but not to hide them from their families.
I call upon the families to do whatever is in their power to safeguard our young girls from abuse, teenage pregnancies and early marriages.”
It should be noted that since the outbreak of Covid19 in March 2020 and everything shutting down schools inclusive, very many young girls have suffered saying schools was a better place.
