Let Ssegirinya and Ssewanyana carry their crosses – Speaker Oulanya tells MPS

Uganda’s Parliament Speaker Rt Hon Jacob Oulanya has told MPS in parliament not to bring Hon Ssegirinya Muhammand and Hon Sswanyana Allan’s issues on the floor of parliament because they need to carry their crosses.

This came after Ssegirinya and Ssewanyana were arrested and remanded to Kitalya prison up to 15th August 2021 on charges of murder and attempted murder in the Masaka killings.

While chairing Parliament, Rt Hon Speaker Jacob Oulanya said the matters concerning Ssegirinya and Ssewanyana are not Parliamentary matters but rather court matters and therefore no MP is allowed to bring up the debate on the flour concerning this matter.

“Hon Ssegirinya Muhammad and Hon Ssewanyana Allan’n cases are not for parliament but rather court. I request legislators not to bring that debate on the floor of Parliament let them carry their crosses.” Hon Jacob Oulanya said.

Masaka Killings started in August 2021 in greater Masaka and the neighboring where a group of men used to move with pangas killing the elderly and vulnerable people in the area.

From the suspects they picked concerning the murders, police spokesperson Fred Enanga said they accepted to have committed the crimes but under the guide of Hon Ssegirinya and Ssewanyana who promised them wealth and money.

It should be noted that Kawempe North MP ssegirinya Muhammad and Makindye West MP Ssewanyana Allan have not been proved guilt for the crimes commited.
